Noah and Katherine met, set up by a few shared friends on February 1, 2014. They hit it off and began spending every breakfast together, growing more and more smitten with each other with each order of eggs over easy, turkey bacon, and a bagel they had before walking up the hill (Noah dragging Katherine up the hill) together to their morning classes.
As Noah and Katherine grew closer during their time at Swarthmore, they spent time together as part of the Track and Field team, Noah cheering Katherine on at soccer games, Katherine cheering Noah on at a capella. But what they really loved to do is head over to Katherine's grandparent's home, where Katherine's grandmother would cook up a feast for them, testing Katherine's picky taste and Noah's willingness to leave a good impression and have a ravenous appetite. They would make cakes, Creme Brulee, and so much more. Katherine joined Noah in New Jersey at many different holidays, and became passionate for making latke, any time of the year, which has become a brunch tradition for them.
Continuing to support each other, Noah and Katherine graduated from Swarthmore and ended up in the Northeast- Noah at medical school in New York City, and Katherine first at work near Boston, then starting her PhD in statistics at the University of Connecticut. They would travel back and forth every 2-3 weeks to see each other, Noah meeting Katherine at Sally's Apizza in New Haven, and going to Haile Bistro, their favorite Ethiopian restaurant, in NYC. They explored food, experiences, and leaned on each other during these intense experiences.
Noah and Katherine and had gone ring shopping weeks before, and Noah was not good at surprises. Katherine wasn't fooled, and knew that something special was going to happen that weekend. With the help of her sister Melissa, Noah set up a picnic overlooking the city of Boston at the Harvard Arboretum, and proposed after playing a song he had written for her when they first met. He was so nervous, he fumbled the ring and dropped it before placing it on her hand, and they laughed before sharing a kiss. They went out to celebrate with pizza, pasta, and bubble tea, before travelling the next weekend to see family.
