We went to separate high schools and we started working together at Sonic in 2016. Kate was a carhop and Noah was a cook. We were friends for a while before we actually noticed each other. Sometime in April, Kate told Noah that he was taking her to prom...it only took a month to convince Noah to actually take her. On the night of prom, May 6th, 2017 (she forgot the date as we're typing this) she asked, "So are we going to date or what?" and that began our love story.
Noah joined the Navy and was sent to Whidbey Island, Washington. Kate was still at the University of Texas and we had been long distance for a couple years. She went to visit him for our 3 year anniversary and on the Fourth of July, Noah took her on a hike up Sugarloaf Mountain. Once we reached the top and were out of breath, we enjoyed the view along with some bird watchers. We were about to leave when Noah suggested we get some pictures and right then, overlooking the mountains and the ocean, Noah got down on one knee and Kate said "Wait, what? No, here??" Noah then asked Kate to marry him and of course, she said yes! The whole island shot off fireworks for us that night! We had discussed marriage before, because we're in love and knew it would happen eventually. When Noah joined the Navy, things sped up. We wanted to get married as soon as possible so Kate could move in before Noah deploys. Kate always wanted a degree before a ring, so we're waiting until after she graduates. Once we get married, Kate will move to Washington to be with Noah until he deploys. When he gets back, the long distance will finally be behind us. We can't wait for that day.
