Our Second Grade Love Story

Noah and Jordyn first sat beside each other in their 2nd grade class. Back then, they said they were “dating” — or at least Jordyn thought they were. Jordyn even invited Noah to her birthday party that year, but he didn’t show up. She was so upset. That Monday, when they got back to school, Jordyn went to put my book bag in her seat and found a present waiting there. She was so confused about who it was from, until Noah said, “It’s from me.” Inside was Frozen-themed lip gloss and some hair clips. Later that year, Jordyn's mom told her they were going to start homeschooling. When they left school in May, Jo didn’t hear from Noah again until.... Fast forward to 2020 — after Venture Church opened back up following COVID. Jordyn and her friend Carey were walking through the building when Noah and his family walked through the doors. Jordyn giggled, looked at Carey, and whispered, “Is that Noah… like my second grade crush Noah?” She said "yes," and from that moment on Jordyn had the biggest crush on him until her 15th birthday party. After everyone had left the birthday party, Jordyn was talking with Carey and finally admitted how much she liked Noah. Jordyn facetimed him and told him she needed to say something. She held up a piece of paper that said: “I like you. You don’t have to say anything.” He said “Okay,” and then the call failed. But when he called Jordyn back, Noah said, “I need to tell you something… I like you too.” They giggled, said goodnight, and Jordyn went to sleep the happiest girl in the world. They talked nonstop for the next nine months. On August 26, 2022, Noah and Jordyn with some family and friends went to Fairhope to eat and walk by the pier. Before meeting up, Noah told Jordyn he had to run to Walmart with his mom to grab toothpaste. When they finally saw each other at the pier, they hugged while facing the sunset. Then Noah stepped back, holding flowers behind his back. I turned around, confused, and he started saying the sweetest things — though Jordyn honestly don’t remember much of it. Then he asked Jordyn if she would go to homecoming with him and be his girlfriend. Since then, they have had our ups and downs, but wouldn’t trade it for anything. Every trial they have faced has only brought them closer to each other and closer to Christ. Then, on August 8th, 2025, they had plans to watch the sunset and eat at Sully’s. As they watched the sunset, Noah said he wanted to take a picture from behind. He told Jordyn to stand up, then said, “Okay, turn around.” When she did, he was down on one knee. All she really remembers is him saying, “Will you marry me, Jordyn Miller?” They celebrated with their families that night, and that’s the story of how the second-grade crush became high school sweetheart… and soon to be Mr and Mrs Noah Lee Couey.
