From Facebook to Forever

On a chilly January evening in 2022, I came across her profile on Facebook Dating, and something just clicked. Our first conversation was effortless, and I couldn’t wait to make her laugh. I suggested a video chat to break the ice and showed off my Speedy Gonzales impression, which had her in stitches. But just as sparks began to fly, she told me she was moving to Colorado in a few days. Undeterred, I invited her over for a cozy dinner at my place, cooking up spaghetti and playing my favorite song, ‘Beyond the Sea.’ When I asked her to dance, it felt like the world melted away—it was just us, swaying in the glow of something new and beautiful. Even though we were about to be separated by hundreds of miles, we couldn’t ignore what we’d found. We dove into a long-distance relationship, enduring months apart while counting down to every call, text, and visit. That summer in California, we made memories I’ll never forget—dancing under the stars on Catalina Island, screaming on rides at Knott’s Berry Farm, and spending lazy afternoons swimming in the sun. But August came too soon, and we said our goodbyes as she returned to Colorado. The months apart only deepened my resolve. In January 2023, I packed my life into boxes and followed her to Colorado, determined to make us work. By May, I was on one knee, asking her to be my forever. Now, as we plan our future together, I look back on that Facebook match and realize it wasn’t just chance—it was the start of everything.
