House Or Rental
Rent a rustic Victorian cottage in this charming, old-fashioned neighborhood. Asbury Grove was once a revival camp meeting grounds. It's now a quiet little community with a collection of gingerbread-style summer cottages, a playground and pool, and small sidestreets perfect for romantic walks or letting the kiddos run around.
Travel Note
Clean, comfortable, and ideal if you have a friend or taxi that can pick you up in Danvers. The Danvers stop is only 15 minutes from our booked hotels. Shuttle tickets are $9 when booked online, which saves paying for a taxi or Uber all the way from Boston. Buses leave Danvers and the Logan Airport every hour at quarter past the hour, and they stop at every airport terminal. From the airport: exit your terminal and wait for the purple Logan Express bus that says "Danvers." There is usually a Logan Express sign on one of the sidewalk pillars noting where the bus stops. To the airport: hop on the shuttle at the Danvers Logan Express location, and hop off when your terminal is announced.
Train
A great way to get between Boston and other North Shore towns, weekend passes on the Commuter Rail are only $10! Download the MBTA mTicket app for train tickets and see our "things to do" page for more sightseeing ideas. A few stops we'd recommend: Boston: The end of the line is in Boston's North End, a hub of great Italian food. Hop on the T (subway) to see more of the city, or walk to the aquarium, historic Freedom Trail spots, and the Boston Public Garden! Salem: Full of great food and eerie history. Tour the House of Seven Gables, have a tea party at Jolie Tea Company, or (our favorite) tour the Peabody-Essex Museum. Manchester: Singing Beach, Captain Dusty's, and Manchester by the Book are all within half a mile! See our "Things to Do" section for a link to Singing Beach walk-on rates. Rockport: Walk 10 minutes (0.9 mi) to Front Beach, downtown Rockport, and Bearskin Neck for stunning ocean views, thriving artist galleries, and seafood. Newburyport: As far as old-brick New England downtowns go, Newburyport is one of the cutest! You'll have to walk just over a mile from the train station. We love coffee dates at Coffee Factory or Plum Island Coffee, and Loretta has delicious seafood.
