Algonquin Park, ON

Join us for a weekend at camp!

Come celebrate with us at Camp Tamakwa! We welcome our guests to arrive on Friday, September 6th and stay until Sunday, September 8th to enjoy all the fun and beauty that camp has to offer.

Coming Home

For both of us, Algonquin Park has always been a home away from home. Thanks to our families, we both had the opportunity to spend summers playing and growing at camp in the Park. Algonquin is where we met and where our friendship first developed, and since then, we have been able to spend some time every summer camping together in our favourite place in the world. Now we are honoured to welcome friends and family to our forest home to celebrate our love with us.

The Place We Love

Tea Lake, where we will gather to celebrate, is the traditional territory of the Anishinabewaki and the Huron-Wendat. The territory is subject to Robinson-Huron Treaty (or Treaty 61) of 1850 and the Williams Treaty of 1923. Both Treaties are in active negotiations today, as Federal and Provincial governments have failed to meet their obligations under the Treaties. Algonquin Park is one of our favourite places in the world. Yet the learning, joy, and love we experience there is made possible by the historical and ongoing stewardship of Indigenous people, on the one hand, and by our governments' disregard for Treaty terms, on the other. We invite our guests to join us in grappling with these truths.

About the weekend

We can't wait to spend a weekend with our closest family and friends. Here are some of the details you might be wondering about: Attire: camp cozy for the weekend (don't forget your swimsuit and towel!). Fun and fab Summer wedding attire for the ceremony and reception. Tamakwa's super kitchen staff will be cooking up lots of camp classics for the weekend - so don't forget to include your dietary restrictions in your RSVP. Beer, wine, & spirits will be served on Friday and Saturday evenings. Camp is for activities! Spend Saturday at archery, swimming, fishing, canoeing, or kayaking. Whether you like to run between activities throughout the day, or would rather lounge on the dock, there's something for everyone!
