When I (Nnenna) started a job in advertising in the summer of 2017, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. And I had no idea that my first week on the job, I would meet my future husband! We met thanks to our friend Bianca, who was on my team at my new job. Bianca and I quickly hit it off and she graciously took me under her wing, introducing me to all her friends at the agency, including Marty. We would all hang out as a group as I was settling in at my new job and making new friends. Marty was so easy to talk to and we felt so comfortable around each other from the very beginning. A couple months later, we had our first kiss and we've been together ever since!

The proposal was very us. Marty knew that I (Nnenna) DEFINITELY didn't want any sort of super public proposal, so he planned a very lovely and low-key night for us. We went out to dinner at a French restaurant in the neighborhood (the duck was divine) and then we went back to our building. I assumed we'd be heading back to our apartment, but instead he took me to the rooftop lounge, which has beautiful views of New York City. There was a fire crackling and earlier in the day, without me realizing, he'd set up a little corner of the lounge and stashed some champagne and glasses up there. Then he got down on one knee and said some very lovely things, and of course I immediately said YES. We popped that bottle of champagne and took a bunch of giddy pictures and videos, as we couldn't believe we were actually engaged. Then we went back down to our apartment and called our families in the US and Australia to share the good news!
