"An everlasting promise of love and sacrifice"

Our Love Story

There are moments in life that change everything, so profound that they leave an indelible mark on your soul. I never knew one of those moments awaited me until I met him—the love of my life. Hi, my name is Nneka, and my old-time paddies still call me Joy. It all started with a birthday picture. I wasn’t looking for anything, and I certainly wasn’t expecting to meet the love of my life. But sometimes, life has a way of surprising you when you least expect it. My sister had uploaded my picture on her status, and that simple act set off a chain of events that would change my world forever. Later that day, she called me and mentioned that a friend had commented on my picture. He wanted to introduce me to his brother. I remember feeling indifferent at the time. It was my birthday, and I wasn’t in the mood for introductions or blind setups. I told my sister as much, thinking that would be the end. But she insisted. She urged me to send my pictures, assuring me that there was something special about this one. Reluctantly, I agreed and sent them. Not long after, she sent me his pictures in return. The moment I took a glance at his face, my heart skipped a beat. It was more than just seeing someone attractive—it was like something deep inside me recognized him. A warm rush spread through me, and in that instant, something clicked into place, like I’d been waiting for him without even knowing it. Then came the call. It was a lazy Saturday afternoon, and I had just woken up from a peaceful nap. I wasn’t expecting anything special that day, but then the phone rang. I answered, and everything else faded as soon as I heard his voice. His voice was warm and familiar, like an old friend you hadn’t spoken to in years. We talked for over two hours, but it felt like no time at all. Every word flowed effortlessly as if we had known each other for ages. There were no awkward silences, just a sense of comfort in finding something I didn’t even realize I had been searching for. After that first call, everything else was history. We couldn’t go an hour without speaking or texting, and every conversation felt like uncovering a new part of something beautiful. Then came the day of our first meeting. I was filled with anticipation, excitement, and an overwhelming sense of nervousness, but I was also thrilled. As I sat in my car, ready to pick him up, I remember sitting there for over 10 minutes, literally shaking from anxiety. My heart raced as I tried to reassure myself—This is it. Today, I get to meet him. The moment felt surreal. How do you know when you’ve met the one? Is it a sudden jolt of awareness or a slow, growing certainty? For me, it was a single glance; in that glance, my heart knew. It was like the universe whispered to me, ‘This is the one.’ Every doubt, every hesitation I might have had melted away the moment I saw him. Meeting him wasn’t just the start of a love story but the beginning of everything I didn’t even know I was waiting for. He proposed on our second visit. It wasn’t grand or rehearsed—it was sincere, heartfelt, and perfect. And without a second thought, I said a resounding, Yes!

First comes courting, then comes marriage!

Hey! My name is Echezona, but most people know me as George. This is my love story about meeting a unique, stunning, awesome, incredibly beautiful, intelligent, and passionate Nwa-Aba called Nneka, who has a smile that could light up the world. I remember how it began: my brother called me up and asked me to send him some of my pictures; he wanted to set me up with the sister of his good friend whom I knew. I was reluctant but figured out I had nothing to lose. A few days later, he sent me a few pictures of a beautiful lady and a short video of the lady vibing to a song in her car. I watched the video and paused when she smiled in the video; that was it for me! That smile! I still tell her to today. She had already taken me, but the smile finished the job; I told my brother to send me her contact information. I got her details on a Tuesday and didn’t call until Saturday for obvious reasons; I also didn’t want to seem desperate. I remember I was on the way to a friend’s event. I was driving, but I couldn’t concentrate on the call, and on the road (yeah, seriously), I had to switch with Brian to drive while I was on the call. I remember her picking up the call, and I introduced myself; she sounded like she was tired or sleeping, I couldn’t tell, but she didn’t brush me off, which was a good sign because I was blabbering badly, all my steeze and suave composure and packaging went out the car, it was as if she knew, and something happened amidst the jonsing, we started talking well, and it was as if we had known each other for a very long time and we were continuing a conversation. I remember Brian asking me if the phone call I was on was the first time we talked; we talked for almost two hours. Since that day, we chatted and made video calls and audio calls almost every hour of the day. I couldn’t wait to meet her, and then we did meet. Our first meeting wasn’t a romantic getaway or something you see in romance movies; she had come to pick me up from my trip as l got into Lagos. I remember her taking her time in the car before coming to meet me; I found myself smiling and felt a welcome that only family can give; that was the first time I knew she was the one. Many things happened later that I can’t put down here, from sending “Songs of The Day” to falling asleep while on a video call, but these events further sealed it in my mind and my heart that I was done searching. I’m a true believer in fate and faith, and it was as if the stars had aligned or it was written that these two lastborn, one a gentleman and the other a beauty, shall be fated together. I asked her to marry me on our second visit, and she said YES! As we begin this new chapter of our lives, we are overjoyed to share this special moment with those we hold dear. Together, we’ve found a love that feels like home, and we look forward to building a future filled with joy, laughter, and endless love. As we celebrate this next step, your presence would mean the world to us.
