How We Met

From Nnamdi’s perspective: One faithful day my favorite Aunt and Godmother called me. After exchanging pleasantries, she asked me "Nnamdi, what are you doing ? Why haven't you introduced us to anyone ?" In my mind I'm like "Did this woman see me in her dream last night ?" She then said to me "there's someone I would like you to meet. She's the daughter of my very good friend but they're based in the USA". Finally she sends me the number and then I go into a battle with my conscience. I'm saying to myself "mehn ndi America nke a. I don't have time for all this COME AND SEE AMERICAN WONDER oo" then that calm voice says "You've not even tried. Reach out to her first before you conclude". I finally got myself to chat her up for the very first time ever with a very weak line of introduction "Hi Chichi. It's me Nnamdi, Aunty Felicia's nephew"🤣 From that day to this one, there hasn't been a day that went by that I haven't talked with her on the phone for hours. From Chinyere’s perspective: A close friend of my mother, Aunty Felicia or as my mom fondly calls her “Felly” told her that she had a nephew that she would like to introduce to me that he is a good man and she felt him and I would make a good match. When my mom first approached me I almost told her “no, that I wasn’t interested” but something in me told me to just go ahead give it a try that I’ll never know what can happen. Although it took him a while he did reach out to me and we have talked for hours ever since. MORAL OF THE STORY: Sometimes our parents get it right 🙂
