Groom
They call him "the man of the hour," "the bearded bandit," and "Bitch Mo," – but for this special day, he'll be known as "the groom." Nick hails from the charming Chicago suburb of Glenview, IL, where he grew up with his parents and three siblings, Matthew, Christina, and Patrick. Enjoying the spoils of double Christmases and the lot, he eventually went to Glenbrook South High School where he met the love of his life: writing. Sasha was there, too. After venturing off to the rolling hills of Allendale, MI for college, he returned to put an end to long-distance Facetime calls and his one-person twin-sized bed and settled in with Sasha. After eight years of "when are you two getting married," Nick finally took a page out of Beyonce's book and put a ring on it.
Bride
Sasha grew up a globetrotter – born in Belarus before growing up in Skokie, IL where she cut her teeth on the playground as all of the babushkas watched from the sidelines. She moved to Glenview later on, bringing her baby sister, Vera, and her parents with her as she continued to pursue her professional gymnastics career. Deciding it would be unfair for other gymnasts to have to compete against such expertise, she pursued other hobbies, such as writing and navigating the burden of dating Nick in high school. After finishing four years at Loyola (spoiler alert: this would not be the end of her higher education), she moved in with Nick across the courtyard of her college apartment and together the adopted a few furry friends. The all-new Mrs. Vassilyeva is 4'8" of love and stress – and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Best Man
When Kyle and Nick first met, Kyle was pinning up his Seattle Seahawks flag as Nick was putting up a jolly roger he got from the Renaissance Faire in their college dorm. But a few drinks and a drunk Skyrim lore dump later, they realized this roommate thing might just work out. From getting him into events for free as "Executive Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief" to late night gaming with the fellas, Kyle is the Robin to Nick's Batman (and he looks just as good in tights, too).
Maid of Honor
Vera has seen every step of Nick and Sasha's relationship. When they first met, Vera was figuring out how multiplication worked. Nine years later, that still hasn't changed. But what has changed is how quick she is to point out how cute (or gross) Nick and Sasha are together, and constantly reminds the couple how they're a shining example of a great, caring relationship. And no, we didn't pay her to say that.
