If you are flying into or coming from Boston and want to use public transportation there are a couple options for getting to Salem. One is the MBTA Commuter Rail which runs from Boston's North Station or from Chelsea to Salem via the Newburyport and Rockport lines. The trip is 30-35 min. once you're on the train. From Logan Airport: Follow signs for the Silver Line Take the SL3 Silver Line Bus to Chelsea (free) At the Chelsea stop follow signs for the Commuter Rail and take the Newburyport or Rockport lines From North Station: Take the Newburyport or Rockport lines via the Commuter Rail

Another option for travel to Salem is the ferry which runs from Boston's Long Wharf to Salem. This trip is a little longer than the train and runs approximately 50 min. However, it can be a more scenic, classic New England experience if you have the time.
