This love story began at the hands of mutual friends. Dennis and Niyah always knew of one another, but never spoke directly to each other. Christmas of 2018 is when the interest sparked and New Years of 2019 is when the first exchange happened. They were both at a New Year's Eve party where DJ approached Niyah, asked if she was seeing anybody, then asked for her number. Shortly after New Years the two were inseparable; seeing that they had mutual friends beforehand, it was easy to stay connected. The two got to know each other through food, long conversations, traveling, and surviving the pandemic together. Shortly after moving to Texas in 2021, the couple began their lives together. The rest is confetti.

Dennis reserved a table at Eberly in Austin,Tx. Since he was traveling for work during my birthday, he promised to still celebrate me when he returned home. Upon his return I truly had felt an undeniable feeling that he was planning more than just a dinner.. The day of 9/9/23 was full of fun; we spontaneously visited a food festival. All day I had a voice telling me I was going to end up a fiancé, but I shook it off. Shortly after, we parted ways and started getting ready for our reservation. After a beautiful meal with drinks, my love and I left & I decided to take pictures outside the restaurant. Little did I know, DJ had the ring on him the whole time. He took the pictures I wanted and offered to fix the strings of my high heel (Sneaky lil devil). It was then that he popped out the ring and asked me “Will you marry me?” I was SHOOK to the core! I had a gut feeling but even still, it didn’t prepare me to actually hear him ask those words.
