Our Story

Amber and Peter met at the University of South Dakota at a barn dance during the famous Dakota Days. They went the next Saturday to Spirit Mound where they discussed faith, friends, and had their first ever dance. They quickly became friends and started hanging out more frequently. They often were found at the Muenster University Center at USD at a round table having lunch together or at the Starbucks in Hy-Vee having study dates. As Peter and Amber’s relationship evolved, they began to connect on a deeper level through Catholicism and Jesus as a whole. Much of their time was spent discussing Jesus and growing in faith together, setting a strong foundation for a relationship with Jesus at the center. It was during the Spring semester that Peter and Amber began to become inseparable. During this time Peter began to think about proposing. After Peter graduated, Amber and Peter entered a long distance relationship, as Peter moved back to Kansas City. Throughout their long distance experiences, Amber and Peter would travel back and forth and partake in many usual activities. These activities included: playing “Sack Boys” on PlayStation 5, getting cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory, grabbing lunch at Ichiban in Sioux City, and growing in faith and Jesus to help cross the physical divide of distance. It was during this time that Peter began to discuss ideas of proposing with his family and friends. Utilizing his great grandmother’s ring, Peter set the proposal date for their one year anniversary, October 9, 2021. Peter took Amber to a swing dancing class next to Cure of Ars the day of the proposal as a reminder of the night that they met. After the lesson Peter walked Amber to the church he grew up at, Cure of Ars. It was here that Peter proposed in front of our blessed virgin mother, Mary, who Amber and Peter had bonded over through the rosary for many months throughout their time of distance. It was here that Peter gave Amber a bible with her new name of Amber Klug. Kristina Klug, Peter’s sister in law, hid behind the bushes and captured the moment as Amber and Peter entered the next chapters in their lives.
