Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Indian formal wear - however this is not strict as we know you may not have this to hand (you can just wear something jazzy). The bride will be in red and the groom in cream so please avoid these colours.

Question

Where can I purchase Indian formal wear?

Answer

As aforementioned, there is no requirement to buy Indian formal wear, however if you would like to we can recommend visiting: www.andaazfashion.co.uk. Alternatively, Vinted has plenty of pre-loved options!

Question

How do I get there?

Answer

The Conservatory is located within the Walled Garden of the Luton Hoo Estate, just 5 minutes from the M1. Leave M1 at Junction 10 sign posted Luton Airport and drive along the dual carriageway to Kidney Wood roundabout (Junction 10a of M1). At the roundabout take the third exit (London Road) A1081 signposted for Harpenden. Continue along the road for approximately ¾ mile (past the entrance to Luton Hoo Hotel) and then take the next left sign posted Newmill End. The entrance gates are just on your left. Follow the brown signs to the Walled Garden.

Question

I'm overwhelmed with the Indian formal wear choices - especially for women! Can you help?

Answer

Yes! We would recommend getting a lengha (top, skirt and shawl) as sarees are difficult to assemble/dance/walk in for the first time! Salwa Kameez’s are usually more casual and not really worn at weddings. Vinted have some good second hand lenghas with really nice embroidery. https://www.vinted.co.uk/catalog?search_text=lengha%20indian&time=1748964466&page=1&catalog%5B%5D=1904&currency=GBP This is a good example of a wedding one: https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/6443576016-lengha-gold-and-silver?referrer=catalog And this: https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/6400830617-indian-lengha?referrer=catalog

Question

Will I be the only white person in Indian formal wear?

Answer

No! Plenty of our friends and family will be getting their Bollywood on - you will not look out of place.
