We met sooo long ago and a lot of people don't know that lol We've attended the same school together since the 6th grade at Nelson Adams Middle School. I believe it wasn't until the 9th grade at Saraland High School when our friendship begun! We took this one class together (Mrs.Powell) and I’m not sure how it started but every day we would faithfully play fight lol Looking back on it I'm sure we were both flirting just oblivious to the fact. We also have always had this dope, similar connection to music and often times would strictly have music conversations. From 9th grade on, Me and Robert continued to be really good friends surprisingly, even after high school. Fast foward to 2016, There was a moment in my life when I found myself going through a tough time and Robert reached out to cheer me up, We ended up going on our very first "date" to see Sausage Party and the rest is HISTORY!
Robert and I are so different in so many ways that leading up to an actual relationship there were times we thought the differences would keep us apart. Some how we managed to ignore any negative opinions about us from very few friends and family and decided to give it a chance! Every since we made the conscious decision to do all things our way, we've been in Sync. Surprisingly, our differences are what ended up bringing us together and also what helped us evolve individually. So when I was presented with the question "Will you be my girlfriend?" on March 13th, 2017 I said, "Yes" with a big Kool-aid smile!!!
A year into our relationship we couldnt stand being apart and decided to move in together. Our first apartment was the best learning experience ever, they say you dont really know someone until you live with them.. Well living with Robert made me love him more! from the delicious meals he'd whip up with no help, to the just because gifts he would bring home just say I love you. Robert received the opportuinity to work out of State towards the end of our lease and while he was gone, we missed each other dearly every single day! I knew right then that I never wanted to be apart again and he promised that we never would be! I joined him in Seattle right after that.
It was finally time for Robert to return home for a visit, I returned a few weeks prior to tie up a few loose ends before we moved. He had been going on and on about this Vacation we would go on while he was home but I remember him being more excited than usual, even giving nail suggestions! There was a feeling I remember having like I just knew It Was Time. I also remember telling my nail tech "Make these special" lol. We headed to Destin for vacation and upon making it there I tried to take a nap but Robert insisted that we head out (I almost ruined the proposal). First we went to dinner but the food took so long, we got it to go because Robert really wanted to catch the sunset on the beach. We made it to the beach soon as the sun was going down and while sitting there together taking in nature’s beauty he handed me a Picture book, with pictures from our first date until that very moment. & on the last page it was blank with the words, "Will you marry me?" neither of us could barely get our words out from tearing up but of course my answer was YES!! I thought that was the end but it was far from over. This thoughtful man took the extra mile and contacted a friend of mines (Cassie & her husband Tony) to decorate the condo before we got back and it was breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL! I knew without a doubt I had made the best decision possibe, I'm so very grateful that I get to marry someone that's my friend & lover. That values my love & goes that extra mile just to see my smile.
While we did want a fun Halloween wedding, with everything going on (COVID,etc) we decided that it would be best to postpone our ceremony until a later date. We didn’t want to exclude our family and friends that really wanted to witness our ceremony. And we have news.. Robert & I are both very spontaneous when it comes to our love so one special Monday Morning we woke and decided to just do it.. We officially tied the knot April 20, 2020 and have been living our best newlywed lives since then. The secret was a hard one to keep mostly for Me lol but we’ve enjoyed keeping that moment to just Us & close family. Just our luck we took these beautiful Save the Date photos just before everything got too bad with Cassie and her Husband Tony (they also helped Robert set up for The Proposal) *Let us know if you would like your own copy of our photos Our registry is also open to anyone that would still like to contribute to The Baldwin household, we would greatly appreciate anything and WE LOVE YOU!
