We’re usually not aware of the moments that change our lives forever. That’s their innate magic. In life, “You cannot connect the dots of life looking forward, only backward”. I’d like to focus on one particular dot. It was a night like any other in January 2020. Having just returned from winter break during our senior year, both Nisha and I were looking ahead, albeit completely unaware of each other. My friend was a bartender at “La Res”, a local bar. As I sat at the bar trading stories, I was beautifully unaware that the gravity of my life was about to shift. The night was shaping up to be just another night. That was until I saw Nisha. Locking eyes with her silenced the crowded bar, and I couldn’t have asked for a better invitation than that smile. She was, quite simply, the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Talking with her that night, I had no earthly idea that this single chance encounter would become one of the defining moments of my life. It sparked the next five years that saw us quarantine, graduate, move cities, and settle into our lives in New York, each of us with eyes on our passions. We began 2025 with the itch to travel. Nisha pitched that we hike a portion of the Camino together. Anyone who knows Nisha knows how special the Camino is to her. I was honored to be asked to be her partner on the trail, and I eagerly accepted. Although I had no idea how, I knew I had to propose to her there. On August 31st, 2025, I proposed using two rings given to me by both of our mothers. A symbol of two families coming together, two cultures colliding, and one enduring love. That day, sitting on the beach gazing into crystal clear waters together, I couldn’t help but think of all the dots along the way that led me here and how I wouldn’t change a thing. You are all a part of this. Each one of you is woven into our story in ways we can never repay you for. We can’t wait to celebrate with you and thank you for being part of the journey!
