It's usually hosted by the bride's family and brings together all women from both sides to wish the bride good health in her journey to marriage. The mendhi ceremony is a festive occaision with music, some light food, and an opportunity for those who want to get their mendhi done. Fun Fact: Legend says the darker the mendhi, the deeper the love between the couple :)

Clothes: Dress code suggestions are offered above and also please wear whatever is comfortable to you (Small ceremony with family) The ceremony begins by offering a prayer to Lord Ganesh, the elephant god, remover of obstacles, to bless the couple in their union.
12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Food: Lunch will be served at 12pm with traditional, Gujarati food. (Small ceremony with family) During lunch, the haldi ceremony will be going on after the bride and groom do a quick outfit change. The haldi ceremony involves applying a paste of tumeric, milk, and rose water (sometimes with sandlewood and gram flour) to the bride and groom's face and body to cleanse them (tumeric has antioxidants that help calm you down) and to signify a prosperous life for the couple. Those who want to put the paste on the couple are welcome to. Fun Fact: The haldi ceremony is thought to guard against the Evil Eye
