In 2018, we fortuitously happened to meet at an airport...Talk about love at first flight. Nischol decided to travel to Guadalajara with Nirav and Andrea, to meet Andrea’s family for Christmas. Mimi’s family typically spends their Christmases at their ranch, two hours outside the city. However, a recent burglary forced them to stay in the city for Christmas. Mimi decided to surprise Andrea, and pick her up at the airport. When Nischol saw Mimi walk up to them beaming from ear to ear, he was hooked. Mimi on the other hand, walked straight past him to hug her best friend Andrea. Clearly Nischol still had some work to do. Luckily he did get the opportunity to have Mimi take him around the city a few times, and they got to know each other a bit better. At the end of the trip, Andrea’s family and Mimi came to see everyone off at the aiport. As Nischol was going up the escalator, Andrea’s father Miguel jokingly remarked, “Hey Nisch, do you still have some room in your bag for Mimi”. If a look could spring the promise of a hope eternal, that was it . The look on Mimi’s face at that moment let Nischol know he had a chance… The rest is History

Nischol surprised Mimi with a proposal in Puerto Vallarta . Nischol made it seem like it was just going to be a long weekend get away , because Nirav and Andrea finally managed to get a weekend off at the same time . Nischol had also been hinting to Mimi that he was going to propose to her on a trip to Hawaii (that hasn’t materialized yet), so she didn’t suspect anything . As luck would have it , Mimi’s brother Daniel was also celebrating his wedding anniversary in Puerto Vallarta that weekend, so he got to be part of the festivities too . We rented an airbnb with a gorgeous view of the bay, and Nischol proposed to Mimi on the balcony there. Mimi had no clue the proposal was coming. Nischol was trying to get her to come outside and sit on the balcony with him, but she kept getting distracted and going elsewhere. When he finally got her to sit down and started talking to her about their relationship , how it had grown, and what he wanted it to grow into, she kept interrupting him obliviously. Mimi only realized that the proposal was coming when the ring box got stuck in Nischol’s pants. (Note to future suitors, don’t wear tight pants when trying to conceal a ring box!!). Mimi said YES!!!
