Yes! There are several routes through the park that require a permit that must be purchased by April 1st, and daily permits for any trips through the park. I recommend checking the official website to look at the map and see if there are any busy areas you may want to visit while we are here. You can find all the information on https://www.nps.gov/glac/index.htm
August is one of the nicest months in Montana, the weather should be warm during the day and cool at night, highs of 80s and lows potentially in the 40s.
We have rented an old farmhouse near Flathead lake, it has enough room for about 15 people, and we are happy to have anyone stay with us. The house offers a working goat farm and we can collect fresh eggs each morning, plus we have access to the lake and kayaks. There are plenty of hotel options in town if that better suits anyones needs and we are staying about 30 minutes from downtown Kalispell.
Zachary and I will be renting an SUV for our family for the week and are happy to do airport pickups and drop offs as needed. I would recommend looking into a car rental if you are planning to do more exploring on your own!
The location of our wedding ceremony is Pray Lake, which is about a 2 hour drive from the Kalispell area. We intend to leave Kalispell around lunch time and check in with the hotels we have booked there. I encourage everyone coming to head that way a bit early and enjoy the area around the lake before we have our ceremony. We will have the ceremony at 6 PM, followed by some family photos taken by the talented Allison Wilburn, and a casual dinner at the Mexican restaurant in town called serranos
We have booked 3 hotel rooms close to Pray Lake, each room can accommodate 4 guests, we are very laid back about the rooms! Anyone who wants to stay is welcome, if you prefer to drive back to the Kalispell rental house or your own hotel after the ceremony you are welcome to leave that area.
We are essentially calling this “eloping with an audience” we aren’t having a traditional wedding, there won’t be a wedding party, no walking down the isle, and we are fine with everyone dressing as causally as you want to! We are getting married outdoors so hiking the area beforehand is encouraged! We will be offering dinner for guests as well as a small celebration in the park with cupcakes and champagne
