Olympia, the capital of Washington state, is at the southern end of Puget Sound. Flying into Sea-Tac international airport would be the closest airport, which is roughly 1 hour (without traffic) north of the venue. I think where you choose lodging should be determined on what you else you plan to do throughout the weekend. Tacoma is a great city, right on the water and is around 25/30 minutes from the airport and 40 minutes from the venue. Jorge and I have lived here for almost 2 years. There are tons of great restaurants, waterfront walking, and always with a mountain view. A great place for a lowkey weekend. Seattle is about 20 minutes from the airport and an hour and a half from the venue. There are plenty of tourist attractions if you plan to sight see this weekend. I, Nina, will be taking the week off prior to the 7th. If any family members would like to get together in the days before our celebration please let me know! I would love to show you around our home state.

Here are some listings for Airbnb in the Tacoma area. You may have to drive around 40 minutes to get to the venue, but Tacoma really is a great place to just walk around, and a hang out; especially in August when the weather is near perfect.
