Welkinweir is nestled into a picturesque hillside in the heart of beautiful Chester County, Pennsylvania. The estate house, with its formal gardens and terraces, traces its earliest roots back to the 1740s and in fact it is listed on the National Historic Register. The name “Welkinweir” comes from an Old English phrase meaning “where the sky meets the water.” This name is very appropriate, because Welkinweir, with its numerous ponds and lovely meandering brook, also happens to be the headquarters of the Green Valleys Watershed Association (GVWA), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting the region’s pristine natural watersheds. The property as a whole is now a 224-acre nature sanctuary, arboretum, education center, and event space built around the original estate bequeathed by GVWA founders Everett and Grace Rodebaugh. 100% of Nina and Emmet's rental fee will be going to the Green Valleys Watershed Association.
