Question

Gifts & Red Envelopes "Hongbao"

Answer

Your presence is the greatest gift, and we do not have a gift registry. In keeping with Chinese wedding tradition, there will be a table at the entrance where guests may leave a red envelope (‘hongbao’) containing a monetary gift if they wish. Amounts containing the number 8 are considered especially lucky, as 8 symbolizes wealth and prosperity.

Question

Dress Code

Answer

We kindly ask guests to wear dressy casual or semi-formal attire. Colors to avoid: White (traditionally for mourning) and all-black outfits for women. Colors to consider: Red, gold, and other bright colors are festive and lucky. Feel free to wear traditional attire if you’d like!

Question

Food & Banquet Style

Answer

At traditional Chinese weddings, the meal is often served banquet-style, which means multiple courses are shared among the table. Each table typically seats 10 guests, and dishes are placed in the center for everyone to enjoy family-style. Banquet meals often include a variety of seafood, meats, vegetables, and symbolic dishes—like fish for prosperity, dumplings for wealth, and sweet desserts for a happy marriage.
