We met about four years ago at work, though at the time we had no idea how important that meeting would turn out to be. From the very beginning, it was clear there was something special—Nina’s beauty was impossible to miss, but it didn’t take long to realize she was also incredibly funny, intelligent, and kind-hearted. Needless to say, a crush quickly formed. That following spring, we finally went on our first official date, which turned out to be pretty unforgettable. We spent the day at the Dallas Museum of Art, shared dinner at Meso Maya, and ended the night watching a movie together. Safe to say, it set a very high standard for first dates—and we both knew this was the start of something really special. 🙂 From there, we kept finding excuses to spend more time together and officially became boyfriend and girlfriend that August. Over the past three and a half years, we’ve shared countless laughs, grown together, and built a relationship full of fun, love, and adventure. Every day still feels just as exciting as that first date, and we’re so grateful to be starting this next chapter of our lives side by side.
A few weeks before the proposal, Anoop asked me to reserve the evening of Saturday, June 7 for a nice dinner. He was short on details, but I had a feeling he was going to propose that evening. On the day of the engagement, Anoop picked me up from my apartment around 6 PM and told me the restaurant had called to say they were running behind schedule and that we wouldn’t be seated until later. I totally believed him! He asked if we could kill some time by going to a park. On the drive over, he played a romantic playlist, and once we arrived, I immediately noticed white rose petals and a beautiful blanket laid out—the spot where he proposed! He hired a photographer to capture the moment and take photos afterward. Then he asked if we could go back to his townhome to freshen up, which threw me off because we were already dressed up! I quickly realized the restaurant reservation didn’t exist and there was probably a reason he wanted to go to his townhome. My suspicion was soon confirmed: a surprise engagement party was waiting at his townhome. It was beyond special to celebrate this moment with family and friends! It was the most perfect engagement, and I am so thankful to be marrying the sweetest, most thoughtful man—who also happens to be my best friend!
