How We Met

October 12, 2017

We met online with Match.com! Yes, people really do meet, fall in love, and get married. I initially invited him to meet me for a coffee but he later canceled. Luckily he rescheduled and offered to treat me to lunch at BJ's restaurant. According to him I ordered his drink, lemonade, and I had his attention from there. We truly have my son, Isaac, to thank for a great beginning to our relationship. Matt used to teach at Heritage high school where Isaac attended. He was his teacher his freshman year and Isaac remembered him. When I told Isaac I went on a date with him, he couldn't stop laughing. I really didn't know what to think of his laughing. Did I make a huge mistake? Matt was texting me asking for a second date but I needed to know Isaac's opinion of him before responding. He then told me Matt was his favorite teacher. He said he laughed because Matt was really funny and hard to take seriously. But he then said, "Yes, mom. You can go on a second date with him. He's a good guy. "

The Proposal

April 13, 2019

I absolutely love tulips and he indulges me at every chance. For my first birthday together he took me for a weekend getaway in the mountains. There is a beautiful tulip garden called Crystal Hermitage in Nevada city that has over 15,000 bulbs. So the next year for my birthday he took me to the same garden. It was an amazing birthday week with music, friends, spa relaxation, and tulips galore. He had already given me a ton of gifts along with the getaway that I really couldn't ask for more. In a quiet corner, surrounded by my favorite flowers and the serenity of the mountains, he said he had one more gift for me. He gave me a very touching birthday card that started to bring me to tears. At the end of the card he wrote, "With you I've found the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. I would be proud and honored to call you my wife." I was crying hysterically. When I turned to look at him, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. He couldn't have planned a better proposal than that ❤

In God's Time

Even though we met online we probably had other chances to meet in the past. Matt was one of Isaac's teachers his freshman year in high school. We should've met at some point that year or in an email but we never did. Then a friend of mine would tell me about her daughter's friend's dad and how he would take them out all the time. We probably could've met through our mutual friend but we never did. God knew when the perfect time was for us to meet and we couldn't be more blessed. We continue to put our faith in The Lord and trust that he knows the best path for our lives together.
