Kevin & I met at a birthday party for Louise, my MOH , Michael our officiant , & Tijen my bridesmaid and our match maker ! Tijen was engaged to Kevins cousin Michael, she had invited Kevin out with his family to celebrate her birthday. I walked into Whiskey Cafe and before my coat was even off , I had spotted this handsome man standing by the bar . The moment was quick, I was pulled away to say hello to some friends but I still remember that moment like it was yesterday. Later on in the night, Tijen & I started chatting and she asked if I was interested in meeting anyone. She said Michael’s cousin was there & what an amazing guy he was. He had told her how he was looking for a nice girl who loves kids & her grandma. So it was a no brainer for her to introduce him to her friend who is best friends with her grandma & teaches childrens yoga ! ( ME ) Little did I know .... The man I was about to be introduced to was the same handsome gentleman I spotted at the door ! A few smiles & great converstation later , we were exchanging numbers and planning our first date ! That night will forver be the most unexpected & magical night for both Kevin & I ! We might tell the story slightly different , but in the end we just knew !
Thank you Mr. Beatrice !
She said yes !
We were about a month or so away from our May 2nd wedding , when news broke that NJ would be headed into another 30 days of lock down ! It was in that moment Kevin & I decided to move forward with an at home ceremony ! We new it was not the big day we had waited so long for , but the important thing was exchanging our vows ( or what was a mini version of them) ... Well like most things in “Corona World”, we found ourselves struggling to get a marriage license approved , finding a location , making sure those involved would be safe ( mask drama ) etc. Finally with the help of friends and family we were able to come up with a very special , intimate ,& memorable moment outside on our front lawn below our freshly bloomed cherry blossom! With friends and family on zoom or FaceTime , a ceremony so beautifully written by our officiant, Mike White, we said I do on 4/21/2020 ( not our first date, but it was the only date the town would give us , so we jumped on it ! ) Kevin and I cooked ourselves a fancy meal of Lobster & Steak , we sipped champagne all day & enjoyed a quite night at home with our cat Obi . That was our wedding day , a night like most others we spend together but a day that holds such a special place in our hearts . I will always remember this moment & cant wait to experience it all over again 10/24/2020 !
