Mendoza

Mendoza

Mendoza Province, Argentina

Mendoza is the main wine producer and exporter in Argentina also known as one of the eleven Great Wine Capitals. With more than 150,000 hectares of vineyards, it provides 70% of the country’s wine production. It has around 800 wineries (some of the largest in Argentina). Hotels I recommend: * La Maria Hotel Boutique * Park Hyatt Mendoza * Postales Hotel Boutique

Misiones

Misiones

Misiones Province, Argentina

It consists of approximately 270 individual waterfalls with heights between 60 and 82 meters (197-269 ft). Not only has Iguazu Falls been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it was also named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The Iguazú Falls can be appreciated from both Argentina and Brazil. Argentina offering on-site activities such as boats approaching the falls, and Brazil offers magnificent views. Hotels I recommend: * Gran Meliá Iguazú - Inside the National Park * LOI SUITES IGUAZU * AMERIAN PORTAL IGUAZU

San Carlos de Bariloche

San Carlos de Bariloche

San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro Province, Argentina

Bariloche is not only known for its mountain landscapes and broad diversity of natural wonders, but also for its chocolate. More than half a million people migrated from Europe to Argentina between 1947 and 1952, following World War II. During the area’s cold winters, some of these European immigrants saw the opportunity to foster a culture of chocolate in their newfound home, which in turn led to the popularity of Argentinian chocolate. Abuela Goye (‘Grandma Goye’) is one of the famous chocolate producers in Bariloche that was founded by Swiss immigrants. Hotels I recommend: *Llao Llao Resort Golf & Spa * Hotel NH Bariloche Edelweiss * Alma del Lago Suites & Spa * Hampton by Hilton Bariloche

Perito Moreno Glacier

Perito Moreno Glacier

Santa Cruz Province, Argentina

El Calafate, also known as Calafate, is a city in Patagonia, Argentina. It is an important tourist destination due to Los Glaciares National Park, including Perito Moreno Glacier. Perito Moreno is considered the eighth wonder of the world, but it's more than an eye-catching natural formation. Perito Moreno is especially unique compared to other glaciers because it advances instead of retreating. It is currently 19 miles long and rises an average height of 240 feet above the water. Altogether, the glacier covers about 121 square miles. Hotels I recommend: * Hostería El Galpón Del Glaciar * Pristine El Calafate Luxury Camp

Salta

Salta

Salta, Salta Province, Argentina

Nicknamed “La Linda,” Salta is known for its beautiful, natural scenery. Salta is a provincial capital in mountainous northwestern Argentina. Founded in 1582, it’s known for its Spanish colonial architecture and Andean heritage. An example is the city’s main square, Plaza 9 de Julio, a cafe-lined square bordered by the neoclassical Cathedral and El Cabildo (an 18th-century town hall turned historical museum). Due to its location, it also offers mountaineering sports and access to some of the most spectacular sights such as Salinas Grandes (a salt desert) and Cerro de Siete Colores (a mountain known for its seven colors) – both belonging to nearby province Jujuy; and Cafayate which is known for the quality and originality of the wines produced in the area. One issue to take note when travelling to Salta is the altitude, as the city itself and all neighbouring locations are high above sea level. Hotels I recommend: * Sheraton Salta Hotel * Hotel Alejandro * Portezuelo Hotel
