College football graduate assistant. Northwestern honor scholar. Two people who many would describe as total opposites were brought together one glorious afternoon on the campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University for a campus tour. Mackenzie’s life those days consisted of every campus activity possible, alongside her tough academic schedule as a biology major. Niles schedule could be described with one word: football. On that day at the end of January, Mackenzie did as she always did and volunteered to give a campus tour to a prospective student athlete, and Niles serendipitously was the coach assigned to accompany that student. Neither remember much of the tour other than the obvious chemistry between the two - chatting and getting to know each other in the 20 minutes that were supposed to be spent alluring the student and his family to Alva, OK. It was undeniable that there was a spark between the two as they went on their way that day - and it must have stayed with Niles through the evening, because a short 24 hours later, he reached out on Twitter with what he described as a ‘hail mary’ and invited Mackenzie on their first date. The next day, their fate was sealed as Niles let Mackenzie beat him in bowling at Cookie’s Bowling Alley in that small Oklahoma town. Less than a week later, Niles asked Mackenzie if they should ‘make things official,’ and they’ve been inseparable ever since. A beautiful opposites attract scenario bringing two people together for a beautiful adventure as life partners.
