Despite growing up in neighboring Chicago suburbs, going to rival high schools, and having several "you were there, too?!" moments, it wasn't until Bumble brought Niko and Eric together in November 2018. Over the course of their conversation, the two quickly learned they shared many interests paramount to any potential relationship: chicken wings, dumplings, and Britney Spears. Niko took the leap and asked Eric out on a date. Of course, in classic Eric fashion, he was busy. Luckily, his work event (editor's note: it was another first date) got canceled, and thank goodness! The two met for wings at Bird's Nest, ultimately migrating to another wing spot, Output Lounge, because apparently Thursday night specials at Bird's Nest are quite popular. They lingered over dinner, bonding over similar backgrounds, the importance of family, and shared goals & hobbies. The conversation continued over drinks and jukebox hogging (Fleetwood Mac) at a nearby bar. While both sensed the night could have gone on forever, over seven hours had passed and it was bar time. Proving chivalry isn't dead, Niko walked Eric to his doorstep. The two made plans to meet for dinner in Chinatown three days later... and then another dinner two days after that... and several more plans the following week... And while we know this story has a happy ending, what many don't know is that Niko was certain of this all along.
