How We Met

Nikki was sick of the NYC hustle and bustle so she applied (and took) a job in Colorado, packed up her car, and headed west. Not knowing a soul in Denver, she quickly found a craigslist roommate, Christine. The first weekend in Denver, Christine invited Nikki out for her friend Keri's birthday celebration at the Lodo bar, Howl at the Moon. The first person Nikki was greeted by was Keri's boyfriends friend, Jared! After sharing some light conversation, Nikki & Jared grabbed a drink and danced the night away. The following week they had their first date, at Rheinhaus in Denver, which lasted 7 hours, and they have been inseparable ever since. The two have been through all kinds of adventures from traveling to Germany and Switzerland, buying a house, raising a puppy, and attempting to visit every MLB stadium together (they have been to 5 so far....but COVID is slowing them down!). They both enjoy the outdoors, sports, travel, their families, cooking (because they're Italian), and visiting breweries. The wedding is just the beginning of their story, and they are very excited for everything that lies ahead.

The Engagement

March 3, 2020

With a trip to Switzerland coming up in March 2020, Jared knew he better get his ass in gear if he was to be ready to propose on that trip. He knew it would be hard to top a proposal on top of the Swiss alps, so he put the his engagement plan into motion. With a little help from a fantastic Jeweler, and some input from his future Fiancé, Jared picked out the perfect ring (Nikki's words), and asked for her Father's blessing in February 2020. With the ring in his pack, and tickets in their hands, the two boarded their flight for Switzerland with neither of them truly knowing what lay ahead. After 2 days in Switzerland, both Nikki and Jared were already blown away by the landscape and the hospitality. On the morning of day three, Jared had a feeling that it may just be the day, so he packed the ring into his coat pocket just in case. He had an inkling his initial plan of waiting to propose in Zermatt on day 8 was in trouble. The couple woke up early and boarded the train from Wilderswil to Grindelwald, then took a gondola to the village of First. After a cold 20+ minute ride, the First Cliff Walk (their destination) was finally in sight. There were no other people around this morning, so they walked hand in hand toward the cliff walk. Once on the narrow trail perched on the side of a cliff hundreds of feet above the valley below, the couple were blown away by the breathtaking views of the Swiss alps that surrounded them. After slowly making their way along the path and taking everything in, the early morning clouds were beginning to part as the two approached the lookout point at the end of the trail. After being a personal photographer for much of the morning, Jared, being well versed in taking awesome pictures, suggested Nikki turn around and stretch out her arms for a picture. When she turned back around, Jared was down on one knee. He asked her if she would marry him, and after yelling at him to be careful to not drop the ring through the grates, she said yes.
