We’re getting married!

On September 25, we went on an early morning hike near Breckenridge. After getting lost a few times along the way, we finally made it to Mohawk Lake. The view was definitely worth it! But after a few minutes by the lake, Dory and I were getting pretty cold and were ready to hike back down. Dan had asked our friend, Wally, to secretly follow us with a nice camera and take pictures of the proposal... but Wally was still making his way up, a couple minutes behind us. After trying to stall our departure, to avoid suspicion, Dan casually asked a nice woman at the lake (the only other person up there) to take a photo of us. Then he asked me to marry him! My whole body went numb in excitement! (Or maybe it was the cold, I will never truly know). Once Wally caught up, we got some high quality photos taken. One day about a month into my new job at Kiewit, this gorgeous woman walked into the office and sat down not too far from my cube. She looked busy with orientation and training, so I figured I’d give her a little time to get settled in. The very next morning we both got to work at the same time (I may have taken a little extra time to get out my car so I could walk with her), so I introduced myself and we chatted as we made our way to our cubes. I immediately could tell how genuine of a person she was. Weeks went on and I made sure to use any excuse to go talk with her. She quickly became my work best friend. I knew I wanted something more and told myself I’m going to marry this girl. About a year after we met, I was sent on a remote project down in Arizona where I would be for about 9 months. One early morning on my way to work, I saw a shooting star and immediately wished for a shot with Nikki. Not even 4 hours later (seriously), I got a text from her asking to grab drinks when I’m back on turn around. The rest was history.
