As with most love stories that started in 2020, ours started on Tinder. With the world shut down, our first date was a walk at Rock Island Trailhead. Although it doesn't seem like much, it was the beginning of something extraordinary. On September 12, 2020, Charlie made things official by asking Nikki to be his girlfriend. Charlie planned a full day at the Denver Aquarium (he knows how much Nikki likes sharks) followed by a dinner at Olive Garden where he surprised Nikki with a card and flowers and asked her to be his girlfriend. Our first Christmas together marked the beginning of our famous scavenger hunts. Charlie surprised Nikki with a hand-crocheted shark, something he taught himself to make just for her. Inside its fin, he'd hidden a recording of a song he wrote. It was sweet, creative, and perfectly him. As time went on, our love grew. In March of 2021, Nikki sold Charlie his very first firearm, and that fall, during Charlie's birthday scavenger hunt on October 23, Nikki finally said "I love you", just a few weeks after Charlie had said it first. In February of 2022, we took the leap and moved in together. That September, we travelled internationally together for the first time. Since then, travel has become one of our favorite adventures. Now we've visited eight countries together and plan to add plenty more to the list. On November 28, 2022, we added a new member to our little family: our dog, Goose. While it took Button some time to adjust to being a big sister, Goose and Button are our favorite cuddle buddies. Then, on November 9, 2024, Charlie planned his most meaningful surprise yet. After years of adventures, scavenger hunts, and building a life together, he asked Nikki to marry him and she said, "yes!" From a trailhead walk in 2020 to planning a lifetime of adventures, our love story has been built on laughter, love, and a shared sense of adventure. We can't wait to celebrate the next chapter with you on September 12, 2026. Exactly six years after the day Charlie asked Nikki to be his girlfriend.
