Our Life

Waited, planned and executed.

John (as he's affectionately called by his friends) and I met in October 2004. I had just started my BBA at Monroe College in NR and had gotten a part time job at the Golden Crust on North Avenue. He walked into the store one Sunday and his eyes followed me everywhere. I remember him asking my coworker who's that and he introduced us. Typical of all Jamaican men, he showed up after my shift to give me a ride home. From then on it seemed like we were inseparable, our lives progressed through various transitions but we always remained true to each other. My fiance is very sure of himself, one Christmas morning he solicited the help of all my family including my mom and dad to help plan the perfect proposal. I remember coming downstairs to begin the unwrapping of the presents with the kids and everyone seemed so excited, I chalked it up to all the presents they had received. When the kids were finished with their presents, someone turned the TV on, I thought it was odd but didn't question it. John turned me around to look at the TV and when I did, there were hundreds of pictures of us on a slide show apparently my eldest daughter Kishan had put together a chronologically photo op of us. I was truly dumbfounded, when I turned back around I saw everyone holding placards with "Will you marry me"? I was unsure of what was happening and turned around to find John on his knees, tears in his eyes and a ring in his hand, he simply said, "your my everything", will you marry me now?
