On a bright and sunny day, Shanikqua and her friend, Kelly (Maid of Honor), decide to get some beers at Delta Brewing Supply, a local craft beer store and beer garden, where Cedric was the manager. Shanikqua didn't know it, but Cedric had his eye on her, and she had her eye on him. Weeks passed, and Shanikqua went back to the store and they reconnected. It is during this time that there are conflicting stories. Cedric says that Shanikqua "ghosted him" for several months, but Shanikqua claims this was her time in seeing if he was going to wait for her. Some would say that a third time is a charm because they met again, and this final time, it was clear they wanted to be with each other. They were inseparable, and each day was made better by the others' presence. After months of intentional dating, and quality time together, Cedric proposed to Shanikqua on May 18, 2019. After the proposal, they decide to plant fresh beginnings in Dallas, Texas. While they often tease that they would be just as content marrying each other under the tree at Grandma's house in Swiftwater, Mississippi or at Walnut Street Blue Bar, they both knew that there were too many people important to them, each deserving to also take part in their special day. Anyone who has spent time around the couple can attest to their fun-loving nature, and their desire for all around them to enjoy the moment.
