The countdown is on!

The year was 2009. Second semester of freshman year on the first day of classes. Intro to Psych 101 (#indigodrink) Nikayla walks in and recognizes her friend Tristen (groomsmen!). She goes over and he is sitting with a group of friends. One is Nate (best man!), another one is Ishmael. After that first class, Ishmael's interest was peaked, so he asked Tristen to invite Nikayla and her friends to hang out and get to know each other more. After many group projects, nights "studying" in club UGL, dinners in the cafe, and pretty much weekly house parties, we all got to know each other and our friend groups meshed. Three months later Nikayla and Ish were a thing.

Date night after traveling (remember when we did that?) to Boston then Dallas to visit our families for the holidays. A quiet date night was much needed so we went to one of our favorite DC restaurants, Georgia Brown's. It was a few days before the new year so we talked about our 2020 goals and plans (ha!). Toward the end Nikayla says "ok cool... and lastly, I expect a ring within the next three months." *sips drink* Ishmael, taken aback and already nervous goes "well this was already the plan..." and gets down on one knee. Nikayla, thinking he's joking.. laughs and rolls her eyes. Then the box opens, her heart drops, Ishmael says words, Nikayla says yes! Then in true Ishmael fashion, we go to multiple bars, are gifted lots of champagne, and end up singing karaoke.
