Train
Traveling from Zurich Airport to Klosters is easy and scenic: Step 1: From the airport station (under Arrivals), take a direct train to Zurich Hauptbahnhof (main station), about 10 minutes. Step 2: From Zurich HB, board an InterCity train to Landquart (~1 hour). Step 3: At Landquart, switch to the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) for the mountain ride to Klosters Platz (~1 hour). Total travel time: ~2–2.5 hours Cost: CHF 40–70 (approx. $45–75) one-way We definitely recommend buying tickets online, or mobile app 'SBB Mobil'. Otherwise you can buy at the airport station. Quick Tips Tickets: The SBB Mobile App makes it easy to buy and store tickets. Seating: Sit on the right side of the train after Landquart for the best mountain views. Luggage: Swiss trains have plenty of overhead racks and luggage spaces near doors. Punctuality: Trains run on time so give yourself a few minutes to find your platform when changing.
Rental Car
While we recommend the train for its ease and beautiful scenery, you can also rent a car directly at Zurich Airport if you’d prefer to drive. Major rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Sixt, Enterprise, Europcar) all have desks in the arrivals hall. The drive from Zurich Airport to Klosters takes about 2–2.5 hours (approximately 150 km / 95 miles). The route is straightforward: Follow the A51 from the airport to join the A1/E60 motorway. Continue east toward Landquart. From Landquart, take the Route 28 mountain road through the Prättigau Valley directly into Klosters. Although parking is available at most hotels and in the village, please contact your hotel regarding parking before hiring a car. Roads are well-maintained and clearly signed, though note that Swiss mountain roads can be narrow and winding. You will not need a car to get around town as everything is walkable once you're there. Taxis and shuttles are readily available if you want to go further.
Travel Note
Klosters sits at a higher elevation than many people are used to. Most guests won’t notice anything at all, but a few simple tips can help everyone feel their best: - Hydrate well — start drinking plenty of water before and during your stay - Take it easy on arrival — light walking is great, but no need to rush or overexert on day one - Arrive early so you can limit alcohol the first day or two, as it can hit harder at altitude - Eat regularly and don’t skip meals - Get a good night’s sleep if possible Possible mild symptoms some people may notice: - Mild headache - Feeling a little more tired than usual - Shortness of breath with exertion These usually pass within a day as your body adjusts. When to take extra care: If you start to feel unwell, rest, hydrate, and take it easy. If symptoms persist or worsen, local pharmacies and medical care are readily available.
