Dating became tiresome, but she gave it one last chance on Hinge. Alison swiped on this profile that was pretty bleak, this guy's photos kind of sucked, but there was something there that reeled her in. They matched! So Alison asked an important question... "If Bigfoot & Yeti were in a fight, who would win?" Joel immediately responded with "where is this so-called fight taking place?". Alison then responds with "Obviously, the UFC ring in Las Vegas." And Joel responded with, "well, based off both of their track records, neither of them will show up." Solid answer in her book. After that, they went on their first date a few weeks later at the Packing House only to find out a few minutes in, that they both had the same birthday....one would say they were kindred spirits, others would say, Joel was just trying to impress Alison, but she made him pull out his ID for proof. Of course, the date went on and Joel let Alison know that his "roommates" wouldn't mind if we went to his house, but walking through that garage door, she sees baby pictures of cute little Joel on the wall, shelves and throughout the house, and then she started realizing, are these so-called "roommates" his mom and sister?...and what do you know, she was right. They continued to hang out and grow closer because they both enjoyed making each other laugh and being themselves, which then lead to Joel, starting to fall head over heels for Alison a little harder than anticipated. She brought him back down to earth after he was trying to slip the words “I love you” in on the third date… However, she began to fall for him after realizing he’s not just another dumb boy, but someone who helped her believe in herself and continue to bring the adventure to her. The two of them began going on more adventures, eventually adding two precious fur babies to the mix, living with each other, and continuously laughing to this day. Every year, a group of friends from all over, join together in the Sierras to camp, play, drink, fart, and just enjoy each other with all their dogs surrounded by the most beautiful scenery. And around Labor Day weekend in 2024, this year was a bit different. Joel and Alison weren’t bickering while packing, they got the perfect spot in Alabama Hills on their way up. They woke up early for a beautiful sunrise on Grant Lake with some of their favorite people, and then Alison's best friend, Bri, made them take a photo with the background of the mountain scape with the sunrise. Joel then got down on one knee and asked Alison to spend the rest of his life with him. Alison knew early on that this man was going to be by her side through it all and didn’t hesitate to say yes. Their big adventure just continues to get better and better from their first date to the morning they got engaged. Even if Bigfoot and Yeti didn’t show up to their fight, Alison and Joel are excited to show up at the altar.
