Question

What is a hand fasting ceremony?

Answer

A hand fasting ceremony is similar to a unity candle or unity sand ceremony, in a way. It's a way of showing two lives becoming one. It is a Celtic ritual from many centuries ago and involves tying the hands of the couple together with cords - "tying the knot" came from this ceremony.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please postmark your RSVP postcard by Friday, January 27th, or RSVP online by Sunday, February 5th.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

As much as we love the children of our families, we ask that anyone under the age of 13 not attend the ceremony or reception at The Palace on March 5th due to space constraints and safety worries. Well-behaved children under 13 are welcome to attend the ceremony and gathering on March 4th.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The Hindu ceremony will begin at 10:30am on Saturday, March 4th with the baraat beginning at 9:30am. More information to follow. The hand fasting ceremony will begin at 3:30pm on Sunday, March 5th. You are welcome to arrive at the East House of the Palace at Somerset Park starting at 3:00pm and enjoy some champagne or sparkling water while you wait.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Yes. The Marigold has a large parking lot accessible from both Hamilton Street and Churchill Avenue. The Palace will have complementary valet parking. A shuttle will also run between the hotel and both venues!

Question

I cannot eat beef/pork/seafood/meat/peanuts, can I make a special request?

Answer

Unfortunately, the menu is provided by the venue and is set. However, there are several options, and all of the above foods will be clearly marked.
