Our love story begins on Wednesday May 17th 2023 at 6:29 pm! That was the exact time Patrick first messaged me on Hinge. As an actor and movie lover, I was always inspired and captivated by classic Meg Ryan and Julia Roberts rom coms with sweet meet-cutes which made me a bit apprehensive to get to know someone through the impersonal world of dating apps. However, something about Patrick’s charming message about my Star Wars shirt in my picture and his clever sense of humor made me curious enough to say yes to a coffee date. What was supposed to be a quick meetup in Morristown turned into hours of talking and laughing. It was the best first date either of us had ever had! In many ways we couldn’t be more different- He was born and grew up in Egypt, is an engineer/physicist, loves the outdoors and camping, is adventurous and outgoing. I’m from a small town in PA, am afraid of every insect on the planet, love anything artistic and am very introspective. Yet we had a blast learning about each other and didn’t want our time to end. During our conversation I expressed to him that I always wanted to learn to ice skate. He told me he would give me lessons and took me ice skating on our next date! This wasn’t exactly like the movie Serendipity since it was the middle of summer and not Christmas time but all of the magical emotions felt the same. When we were skating he playfully had me touch the ice to get over my fear of falling and told me I shouldn’t be scared. I didn’t fall on the ice that day but we had certainly fallen hard for one another<3 From dressing up for the Barbie movie to reading and watching Harry Potter together, to even skating under the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, our time together has felt like our own real-life rom com. I knew it was love when, on New Year’s Eve, Patrick surprised me by memorizing and reciting the final monologue from When Harry Met Sally simply because he knew how much I loved it. “Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.” In each other, we found that meaning. Patrick proposed on our one-year anniversary, and now we’re so excited to begin our own happy ending! We can’t wait to celebrate with you! ♥️
