How We Met

December 26, 2016

A classic love story of right place, right time, and "right swipes"! It was the day after Christmas in 2016 and Rick was stuck in traffic on route 287, driving home from spending the night at his mom's house in Whitehouse Station. Darah was lounging in Christmas jammies, sipping coffee with her parents in Milltown, exhausted from the holiday celebrations. Both Darah and Rick decided to pop on Bumble and give love a chance near their hometowns - a change of scenery for Darah (living in Hoboken) and Rick (living in Red Bank). Rick and Darah both swiped right and it was a match! This is where the story gets interesting... After matching on Bumble they realized pretty quickly that they weren't complete strangers. They had actually worked in the same office building together for years! They both admitted to 'noticing' each other, but never had the opportunity to meet - until now. They agreed to meet for drinks after work and one date led to two...

How He Proposed

August 2, 2020

It was the hottest and most humid day of summer with a 99% chance of thunderstorms, but NOTHING was going to stop this day from happening. Rick planned the most special surprise at Beneduce Vineyards (one of Rick and Darah's favorite places), and despite wanting to postpone due to the awful forecast, he decided to take his chances! Rick and Darah arrived on time and started walking through the vineyard. Darah was skeptical because they were walking in the opposite direction of their usual spot, but Rick assured her it was due to the 'new check-in policies for COVID' (which was not true but enough to throw Darah off). As they walked within the vineyards, they approached a basket placed in the middle of the aisle with summer wildflowers and a wine bottle engraved with the words 'Darah Lyndsay Katcher, Will You Marry Me?' While Darah glanced down to look at the basket, Rick dropped to one knee and asked the most important question - Darah said "YES!" After this emotional moment, Darah and Rick walked out of the vineyard and were greeted by both of their families to celebrate, which was the BEST surprise ever! PS - it turned out to be a bright and sunny day, not one drop of rain!
