How We Met

Her Perspective

In September of 2020, our local church decided to launch a college ministry. We officially met at the first leadership interest meeting for this ministry. However, we also had many classes together throughout college. Payton was a familiar face. One of the first times we spoke was at a prayer night. He brought two of his friends that I wanted to meet. Upon introducing myself, one of his friends asked how we had met. Payton responded, "Funny story, we have a ton of classes together, but we've never actually spoken." He said it with a smile, and you could only imagine how awkward I felt. From that point on, we started studying and serving together. I may have been hesitant about dating him at first, but BOY did the Lord know exactly who I needed. We spent almost every day together, and I hope that continues forever.

How We Met

His Perspective

It was only a few days after we first talked at the prayer night mentioned above that Nicolette made the bold move to slide into my Facebook Messages. I was initially flattered by her bold yet clever proposition to "study together" for an upcoming genetics quiz. However, the evident interest did not end there. In that same message, she sent her phone number free of charge! Could this get any easier?? The only logical explanation for her lack of reservation was that I had wowed her with my charm and conversation at the prayer night. Anyway, she invited me over to work on genetics that night. I ended up staying at her house for 3 hours of which we spent 25 minutes on genetics and the remaining time talking and sharing stories. Every time she talked, I thought "Thank You Jesus!" I didn't think it was possible that someone was this cool, had similar interests, AND loved Jesus. So at 12:30am, I left her house and headed to mine determined that I had to marry this bold girl. I later learned she had no interest in me outside of our genetics class, but after a couple months she finally came around.
