Temperature can massively fluctuate here as we are in a valley, along the Rio Grande River. So while the sun may shine and it will be comfortable while it’s out, it can easily drop to freezing as the sun sets. Please be comfortable and think about shoe choices: this is mainly outdoors
Not at all! We're keeping things laid back and relaxed. You can expect a ceremony, photos, and a delicious catered buffet dinner—the bride is thrilled to have the professionals handle this one! While we won't have a traditional reception, we absolutely welcome dancing and celebrating together. We do ask that everyone be mindful of our neighbors as the evening winds down.
We're hosting our wedding at a rental home through Airbnb. All guests will have full access to bathroom facilities. We simply ask that you help us care for the space—since we're responsible for any damages, your respect for the property means a great deal to us. Please note that campers and RVs cannot be parked at the house itself.
Yes! San Luis Valley Food Company has created a fully customized menu tailored to our vision. Our meal will feature a charcuterie board for grazing, followed by a main course of BBQ pulled pork with two flavor options served on the side, accompanied by garlic butter noodles, garlic green beans, and seasonal local squash. We're also delighted to include homemade sourdough bread baked by the bride. For dessert, guests will enjoy cookies made by the bride alongside a beautiful Fall cake from Marie's in Pueblo West.
We'll have water with lemon, sweet tea, and soft drinks throughout the celebration. Red wine will be served with dinner. Given the altitude, we especially recommend staying hydrated with water!
Our venue sits at approximately 8,300 feet above sea level. Altitude affects everyone differently, and you may experience symptoms ranging from headaches and drowsiness to mild disorientation. To help you acclimate, we recommend staying well-hydrated in the days leading up to your arrival. If appropriate for you, taking aspirin a day or two before you come—and continuing it throughout your stay—can be very effective in preventing altitude-related headaches. Because higher elevations accelerate dehydration, prioritize drinking plenty of water and electrolyte-rich beverages during your time with us. Keep in mind that alcohol also affects your body more quickly at altitude, so you may want to moderate your consumption accordingly.
Our accommodations at the Airbnb are fully reserved for our immediate family—the children and their partners, my parents who are traveling 1600 miles to celebrate with us, and our wonderful photographer, Mia. While we wish we could host everyone, the area offers many lovely lodging options, and you truly can't go wrong with any choice in this gorgeous region!
