Zach and Nikki met in 2021 as Juniors at the University of Florida. Nikki asked Zach to be her date to a sorority date function, and despite having a big exam the next day, he agreed (he still got an A, don't worry). After that night, they knew it was only the beginning of their story.
After only 9 months of dating, Zach and Nikki were faced with their first big decision as a couple. Zach accepted his first job in Daytona Beach, Florida and just two weeks later Nikki received acceptance to her dream dental school in Ann Arbor, MI. Despite the 1000 miles that would soon be between them, they encouraged each other to accept their offers with the confidence that they would make it through to the other side.
In May 2022, Zach helped Nikki pack up her SUV and together they drove up to Ann Arbor, MI to move her in. They logged thousands of FaceTime hours and Delta SkyMiles, finding ways to show up and support one another from 1000 miles away. It challenged their communication and commitment to their relationship, with the ultimate result of a stronger bond and more appreciation for each other.
During the first Thanksgiving weekend between both of the Emhoff and Sykora families, Zach proposed to Nikki at sunrise on Delray Beach. This was one of the first places they went when Zach brought Nikki home to meet his family, and has remained one of their favorite places for date night, celebrations, and visiting family/friends.
After Nikki graduated from Dental School, Zach helped her pack up her car once again (this time with the newest addition to their family, Maisy the Mini Bernedoodle) and they drove down to Alpharetta, Georgia to start their next chapter as husband and wife. Each and every one of you has played a part in our story, and we cannot wait to celebrate this next (and most exciting) chapter with you!
