Our first date was the classic bowling alley date. Spencer did not even remotely try to let me win, but I kicked his butt in the arcade so it evened out. Immediately, it was like we had known each other for years. We were gossiping with each other and laughing till our stomachs hurt. After this first date, we were inseparable and made plans to see each other daily.
It was supposed to be a celebration for Spencer's birthday, so he had planned on taking me to Piedmont Park. We walked to the different restaurants around the park. Our first stop was at Park Tavern, where we grabbed a drink and an appetizer. While we were sitting, there a wagon full of puppies pulled up. I was in heaven. We decided to move on to the next restaurant. We were checking out what event was going on in the middle of the park. As we were walking, all we could hear was "Let's walk for cancer" to the surprise of both of us. We were approaching a bend in the path when he veered me off into the grass. Immediately, I noticed the setup he had planned. There was a blanket laid out with roses and a picnic basket reading "Will you marry me?". He got down on one knee and pulled out the ring he had stuffed in his boots, I was sobbing so many tears of joy. I could not even see how the ring and full setup looked. Little did I know, a crowd had formed around us waiting for me to say yes and cheered for us when I did. ... And I thought the wagon of puppies would have then the highlight of my day!
