What time should I arrive?
Answer
Please arrive at Black River Barn no later than 2:15pm, to allow time for parking at the reception location and then transporting together to the ceremony location.

What is the dress code?
Answer
Beach semi-formal ~ dresses & jumpsuits, light suits (tie optional) & long or short-sleeved button-ups, polos & chinos To get to the ceremony location, you have to go up a set of stairs and walk along a cobblestone path. We don't recommend heels at the ceremony.

Are kids welcome?
Answer
Yes! You are welcome to bring your little ones. There will be a quiet room at the reception for any nursing mothers or kids who need a sensory break.

What is the best way to get to South Haven?
Answer
If driving from Chicagoland, South Haven is a 2.5 hour drive away via I-94 E. Transfer to I-196 N once in Michigan, South Haven is exit 20B. If you are flying in from out of town, the closest airports are Grand Rapids to the north (1 hour drive) & Chicago to the west (2.5 hour drive). If coming from Grand Rapids, we recommend taking M-6 to I-196 W and exit 20. If you are coming from Chicago O'Hare, we recommend taking I-294 to I-94 E and transfer to I-196 N once in Michigan. South Haven is exit 20B.

What if I can't drive?

While driving is the most convenient way to get around, for international guests, there are other options for getting to South Haven. If flying into O'Hare, you can... 1. Take the CTA Blue Line from the airport to Clinton in downtown Chicago (about 45 mins) 2. From there, hop on the Greyhound bus headed towards Detroit and get off at Benton Harbor (2 hours) 3. Transfer to IT20 Bus & get off at South Haven (30 mins) 4. Hotels on Phoenix avenue are a 15 minute walk from bus stop If flying into Grand Rapids, you can take the IT 23 bus from Kalamazoo stop to South Haven (1.5 hours). Bus stop is the same 15 minute walk to hotels. Alternatively, there are a few private driving services for transportation to/from either airport. Can't I just order an Uber or Lyft?
Answer
Unfortunately, no. There are no reliable ride share drivers in the area due to it's remote location. We encourage you to plan ahead and carpool with other guests.
