How do we get to Shimla and Chandigarh?

Shimla is a 3 hour drive from Chandigarh. We can help arrange for taxis to drive guests from Chandigarh to Shimla. We recommend flying into Chandigarh (IXC). There are daily flights to IXC from Dubai (DXB), Singapore (SIN), and New Delhi (DEL). There are more options for flying into New Delhi (DEL) - daily flights from DEL to IXC take about an hour, or trains/taxi from New Delhi to Chandigarh take around 3-5 hours.

Do I need a VISA?

Answer

For American guests, yes. For all others, please check the India VISA website. Go to: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html Fill out e-Visa Tourist application. Earliest you can submit is 120 days prior to travel. Make sure everything matches exactly the same as your passport and flight ticket. Most visas are approved within a week; in the off chance they need more info, 4-5 weeks should give you enough time to get that sorted. Do it early - we learned the hard way. When approved, you’ll get an e-mail with your ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) – this is your visa. Print it, secure it, and bring it during your travel.
