We grew up in the same small town, though we didn't really know each other back then. It’s funny how small towns can make you feel like everyone is familiar, but not necessarily someone you really know. Our paths crossed over the years in the most ordinary ways—at school events, in the grocery store, even in passing at the local bar Jojo’s. But back then, it never seemed like the right moment to connect. We were just two kids with different circles and different lives, unaware that our futures were already written in the same place. We both left town after High School, heading off to college. I, Nicole, went to West Virginia and Robert went to Tallahassee. As the years passed, there was a small part that made us miss home. It wasn't until I moved back home from WV that our paths crossed at our local bar. We caught up over a pitcher of beer. Every time we would see each other our conversations would run longer. Then one day, with the help of our friends, Robert asked to take me to dinner. From that day on we have been inseparable. It felt almost like fate, how we’d both circled back to where we began. The small town that had once felt so small was now the place where we found our biggest adventure yet: each other. We realized that sometimes, the people you’re meant to be with are the ones who’ve always been part of your story, even if you didn’t know it yet. It’s funny how life works, how you can wander far and wide, only to realize that the most beautiful thing you were looking for was always just around the corner, waiting for you to come home.
