Question

What if I don't speak French?

Answer

Join the club! Many of us are in the same boat but don't worry, there are plenty of tools to help you communicate. We recommend using Google Translate or the Apple Translation app for on-the-spot assistance. Additionally, why not give Duolingo a try in the year leading up to the wedding? It’s a free and fun way to learn some common French phrases that might come in handy. It’s always nice to be able to say a friendly "Bonjour" or "Merci"!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Please join us in classy yet comfortable garden party attire. Men may opt for breezy linen, while women floral dresses. For further inspiration, check out our mood board here: https://pin.it/3jlXDEGSK

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We kindly ask that you RSVP by March 1st to help us plan a memorable weekend for everyone. However, we greatly appreciate you letting us know your decision as soon as possible—the earlier we have a head count, the better we can tailor the festivities of the weekend! We understand that traveling to Lourmarin is a significant commitment. While we would love for all of you to join us on this once-in-a-lifetime trip, we completely understand if you are unable to make it 🤍

Question

What is the weather like that time of year?

Answer

In late August and early September, Lourmarin has ideal late summer weather. Days are pleasantly warm with average high temperatures ranging from 77°F to 82°F, while nights are comfortably cool! This is the perfect time to enjoy the natural beauty of Provence under clear, sunny skies and mild evenings, making it a magical backdrop for our special day 🌞 The plan is to have all three events outside (weather permitting)!

Question

How do we get to the venue?

Answer

Our wedding venue, Le Galinier, is conveniently located in the heart of Lourmarin, making it accessible on foot from anywhere within the village. If you’re staying in one of the recommended hotels or Airbnbs we’ve provided, you’ll find that it’s just a pleasant, short walk away—literally just across the street! We’ve chosen this beautiful spot for its ease of access and its charming surroundings, ensuring that your walk to our celebration is as easy as it is scenic 🌳

Question

What is the weekend itinerary?

Answer

Kick off the weekend with a visit to the charming Lourmarin market on Friday morning, which wraps up around noon. Later that evening, join us for our Welcome Dinner to mingle and celebrate the start of our festive weekend. On Saturday, we look forward to seeing you at our wedding ceremony in the evening (5 pm), followed by a cocktail hour, a seated dinner, and a lively reception to dance the night away until 2 am. The festivities will continue on Sunday with a relaxing Pool Day starting at 11 am at the same beautiful venue. We’ll cap off the weekend with a laid-back poolside dinner, enjoying the company and the setting sun before sending everyone on their way!

Question

How many days before the wedding should I get to town?

Answer

We encourage you to make the most of your trip to France and suggest arriving a few days before the festivities begin on Friday. Keep in mind that France is 7 hours ahead of American Central Time, which might lead to some jet lag. Arriving early will not only give you a chance to explore the beautiful surroundings but also help you adjust to the time difference. This way, you can fully enjoy the weekend's events without the risk of dozing off at the dinner table (lol)! Whether it's sipping coffee in a cute café or strolling through the village, these extra days will help you tremendously.

Question

Do I need a Visa?

Answer

No, you do not need a visa for short stays if you are a U.S. citizen! 🇺🇸🤝🏼🇫🇷 However, please ensure that your passport is up to date. It should not be at risk of expiring within six months of your travel date, as you may not be allowed to fly. If you're concerned about your passport's validity, we strongly recommend renewing it as soon as possible. Renewal can take a few months, and getting this sorted early will help you avoid any last-minute travel complications as the big day approaches!

Question

Should I bring an adapter for electrical appliances (phone chargers, curling irons, etc)?

Answer

Yes, you will need a power converter to use any electrical appliances you bring along, such as phone chargers and hair tools! France uses a different voltage and plug type compared to the U.S. We recommend checking out Amazon for the best options! (https://a.co/d/eMEyRTm)

Question

Will we need to rent a car?

Answer

You are more than welcome to rent a car if you wish, but it’s not necessary for the wedding weekend. Transportation will be available for the Welcome Dinner on Friday. Since our venue and all related activities are conveniently located within walking distance of Lourmarin, you can easily get around on foot. Getting to Lourmarin is an easy taxi ride from the airport or train station! Feel free to rent a car if you’d like to explore more of the surrounding areas at your own pace!

Question

Is it easy to get Ubers?

Answer

In Lourmarin, finding an Uber can be a bit challenging, so we recommend planning ahead. It's best to book taxis a few hours in advance, or as soon as you know your plans (if you are trying to get somewhere out of the walkable town). This ensures you have a reliable ride without any wait. Local taxi services are quite efficient and more accustomed to the area’s routes, which makes them a great alternative to Uber. Booking in advance will help ensure that your travel around the villages and surrounding areas is smooth and stress-free.

Question

How should we pay for things?

Answer

Most places in and around Lourmarin will gladly accept major credit cards like American Express or Visa, so you should be covered for most transactions. Additionally, there are plenty of ATMs available if you prefer to carry some euros with you. Before you travel, we recommend checking with your bank to ensure your card doesn’t have international transaction fees. It’s also a good idea to notify your bank of your travel plans to prevent any unexpected card locks when making charges abroad. This way, you can shop and dine without any hassle!

Question

What is the culture like in Lourmarin?

Answer

Lourmarin, nestled in the heart of Provence, offers a quintessentially charming French experience. Renowned for its scenic beauty and artistic heritage, the village exudes a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Here, life is savored slowly, whether it's through enjoying a leisurely café au lait at a streetside café or browsing the local artisan markets. The locals are friendly and often appreciative of any attempts at French, no matter how basic (most will know at least a little bit of English!). With its rich history, vibrant art scene, and picturesque landscapes, Lourmarin provides a perfect snapshot of Provençal culture that invites exploration and enjoyment.
