The Journey Begins

"We're Just Friends"

Dancers. Raúl and Nicole met at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Vernon as fellow classmates who became "friends." As time passed the lovely couple grew in affection towards one another. It was evident they both had similar interests - adventure trips, travel, family, dance, serving others, and more. How remarkable that during what seemed to be the most difficult of times (the pandemic of 2020), God had brought these two together to increase their faith and build their character. In the midst of hardship, God showed up and taught the two valuable lessons that transformed their outlook on life. A year later, God confirmed the intent of His will in both of their hearts through a vision and prayer to wed. The bride to be said of course, yes! She went from countless months claiming Raúl to be "just a friend," to boyfriend... engaged. A journey that is ready to blossom with God at the center of it all.

The Proposal

From Friend to Fiance

I knew Nicole was the one for me. After a year and a half, I decided to propose. I met with her parents to receive their blessing and they said yes! Everyone started helping me search for the engagement ring! I had been warned Nicole is particular in what she likes. It had been almost two months and I finally found the perfect one for her. It was a beautiful, unique ring I had never seen before and hoped she would love. Our "anniversary" was coming up, and I say "anniversary" with quotes because we never really were clear when our relationship had blossomed into something more than friendship. Saturday finally came and I knew the perfect spot to propose; "Soapstone Mountain," the place where we saw the most beautiful sunrise. It was going to be breathtaking! I could hardly wait. I picked Nicole up at 6am and parked the car. I placed my phone on the dashboard to record the moment. Nicole knew something was up. We waited a while and the sun never came, only one sunray that pierced through the clouds. That was enough for me. As I brought her closer to the car so the camera would pick up the big moment, Nicole placed her hands in my pockets to stay warm. I knew she felt the ring box, so I said, "it's time" and got down on one knee asking her to marry me. Thankfully she said yes after several repeats of the question. Grateful for her being in my life. She is a wonderful blessing from God and I wouldn't have it any other way.
