Pat truly went above and beyond in asking me to marry him. He spent months planning and consulting with my best friends to make sure the proposal was perfect. It all started when I “won” a graduation photoshoot giveaway on Facebook. I would later learn that Annie, the photographer and Pat actually knew each other and he had set the whole thing up! We chose April 8, 2017 for the graduation photoshoot, but I later learned that my cap and gown would not arrive in time. I asked Annie if she would mind doing a couple’s shoot for us instead. She was so accommodating and happily agreed to the change of plans. Little did I know this change of plans worked out even better for Pat's master plan. The morning of April 8th we met up with Annie and took some photos at UNC’s arboretum campus before heading over to the Old Well. Right before Annie took our first picture together at the Old Well, Pat turned to me and said, “So, you know how this was supposed to be a couple’s photoshoot, it’s actually an engagement photoshoot!” Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and of course I said yes! After a minute or so hugging and kissing and slipping that beautiful ring onto my finger Pat said, “Wait, there’s more.” He pulled out his phone, dialed a number, and said, “Okay, you can come out now.” The next thing I knew, my family and best friends all came running out of an adjacent building that they had been hiding in for the proposal. At that point, I started crying. I had never felt so much happiness in my life! We all celebrated together with hugs, high fives, and lots more picture taking and eventually made it over to Top of the Hill where Pat’s family was waiting for us to have a celebratory lunch, where toasts and well wishes were made, and lots of love was shared by all. It was absolutely the perfect day and the perfect proposal. Pat did an outstanding job and really went above and beyond to make the entire day so special.
