La Fortuna
If you plan to travel around the country, the town of La Fortuna is one of our absolute favorite places in the world. Around 3.5 hour drive from El Mangroove, La Fortuna town has a beautiful volcano (Volcan Arenal), hot springs, a waterfall, and lots of hiking. We have stayed at Tabacon together before, and even if you don't plan on staying there, consider buying a day pass to check out their natural hot springs. You can also find free hot springs in the and also other wonderful hotels. We used Jacamar tours for different activities and went on the "Hanging Bridges + La Fortuna Waterfall + Lunch" tour- which was amazing! Text us for any questions/other recommendations!
Tamarindo
About 1.5 hours from the hotel, the beach town of Tamarindo is lively and has several bars and restaurants.
Monteverde
If you want to explore other areas of Costa Rica, Monteverde is a top destination and is well known all over the world for its cloud forrest. It is around 3 hours from El Mangroove. We have never been, but it's on our bucket list!
